Rhonda Jensen

Two Birds Designs

Boulder native and creative spirit Rhonda Jensen has always enjoyed working with her hands.

Equipped with a degree in Interior Design and 20 years of experience running her own window treatment business, Jensen provided design services to a commercial general contractor serving the Boulder area. But two and half years ago Jensen and her husband were ready for a change and decide to move to the Vail Valley to start something new.

Their new endeavor turned out to be Two Birds Designs – a jewelry business that features vintage and earthy pieces handcrafted by Jensen and her husband. The ideas behind their designs come from “color combinations that encourage delight, the use of natural elements such as stones or metals in their raw state and repurposing old vintage items.” Jenson is also known for creating designs with an unexpected twist such as combining materials, colors, and/or textures that are not usually found together.

In an effort to create one-of-a-kind jewelry that utilizes materials such as copper, brass and dark metals, Jensen, who is a third generation Colorado native, credits her environment for her design inspiration.

“Colorado is such a beautiful place to live and visit, so I thought it would be nice to focus on creating pieces to serve as a reminder of time spent here,” she said.

Two Birds Designs earrings and necklaces can be found at The Scarab and Jenson said she is glad to be represented there.

“I met Jane and Larry while visiting their amazing shop,” Jensen said. “Whenever I’m nearby I always have to stop in and admire (and purchase) the fun, unique items they find and artfully display.”

After almost three years as a Vail Valley resident, Jensen has discovered that “beautiful surroundings, fresh air and friendly people restore the soul” and is glad to be doing what she loves in a place she truly appreciates.
